The Community of Madrid has launched an ambitious subsidy programme to promote sustainable urban mobility, offering grants of up to 50% of the purchase price of electric bikes, with a maximum of €600. Which vehicles are eligible for the subsidy?
The grants apply to the purchase of:
- New two- or three-wheel electric bikes.
- Handcycles with electric assistance that meet the specific requirements.
Electric bike requirements:
- Electric motor with a maximum continuous rated power of up to 250W.
- Pedal assistance must cut off at 25 km/h or when the rider stops pedalling.
- Battery capacity equal to or greater than 248 Wh.
- Maximum retail price of €3,000 (VAT included).
- Mandatory equipment: complete lighting system.
Who can apply for these subsidies?
Individuals:
- Adults registered as residents in the Community of Madrid.
- Up to date with tax obligations and with no outstanding Social Security debts.
Self-employed professionals and SMEs:
- With headquarters or business activity within the Community of Madrid.
- Must be registered for economic activity tax (IAE) and comply with tax obligations.
Application deadlines:
For bikes purchased from 25 November onwards:
- Deadline: three months from the purchase date.
The programme will remain active until 31 December 2026.
Required documentation for the application:
- Full invoice issued in the applicant’s name.
- It must include: invoice number, purchase date, brand, model, serial or frame number, and price with VAT clearly detailed.
- Declaration of responsibility (included in the application form).
- Confirms that the bike meets the required technical specifications.
- Completed application form.
