7. How do I know if my scooter can legally ride and is fully compliant?
To ensure that your electric scooter can be used in compliance with the new Law 5/2025, you must check four key elements: homologation, registration, identification and insurance. Firstly, the scooter must have a certificate of circulation issued by the manufacturer, confirming that it complies with the DGT’s technical requirements (maximum speed, power, braking system, stability, etc.). In addition, the vehicle must be registered with the DGT and have visible identification, similar to a number plate, allowing it to be linked to its owner. Finally, it must have valid third-party liability insurance. If your scooter meets these four requirements, you will be able to ride with the peace of mind of knowing that you are fully compliant with the law and protected in the event of any incident.
